Cersaie, Ceramics Trade Fair in Bologna on 27th September to 1st October, and Verona Natural Stone Trade Fair on 28th September to 1st October, 2021

Cersaie Ceramics Trade Fair in Bologna was back at last after a break in 2020 due to the pandemic. Despite innumerable checks of temperature, vaccination certificates, face masks, hand sanitizer, etc., the fair offered a great deal of new ideas. The trends are not as clear as before, but we could notice that ceramic versions of slate and terrazzo (mosaic floors) as well as other natural stones with more life and character dominated the news packages of our factories. Sizes 30x60 cm and 60x60 cm are still very important to the Swedish market, but several factories exclude these as there is a vision that dimensions such as 40x80 cm and 80x80 cm will become the new future standards. Large-size tiles which can be cut to both furniture and, in certain cases, kitchen worktops, giving an overall approach to the customers’ homes, are also an important development for the ceramics industry. 

We are also proud to be able to say that most of our factories have invested in the latest technology in their new collections. This technology is an addition to a sort of 3D structure that enhances its looks with a deeper and more natural appearance. It creates minute ”traces” following e.g. a fossil or a marble vein. The trace has also a different lustre from the general “background”, exactly like real natural stone. It is primarily visible in grazing light, emphasizing the difference between tiles in the low/medium and premium price segments. This technology may even increase sales of porcelain tiles with a wooden floor look as they significantly differ from the plain wooden floor tiles without 3D traces.
